Persuasive Speeches in Junior Class 2017
During the month of April, Junior Class started delivering Persuasive Speeches to prepare for the Thirteenth National ESU Speaking Competition which was held at the Grange School in Santiago last Saturday, April 22nd. This year’s topic was “To define is to limit” based on a famous quote by the English writer Oscar Wilde.
This year 8 students prepared their speeches on the given topic. Andrés Balbontín, Martín Iturralde, Niels Luteijn, Simón Mora, Javiera Pizarro, Agustín Quera, Jorge Verástegui and Amparo Zamora showed their talent not only in writing but also in their public speaking skills.
Amparo Zamora and Niels Luteijn outstandingly represented Orchard College last Saturday, where 23 other English schools also participated. We congratulate Amparo and Niels for taking the challenge and daring to participate in such prestigious worldwide competition. This year’s competition had the former Minister of Finance, Carlos Cáceres, as a Guest Speaker to talk about the Importance of Speaking English nowadays.
