English Poetry Contest
The English Speaking Union organized its annual Poetry Contest for students from 3rd to 8th grade at the Saint George’s College last Tuesday, October 3rd and Wednesday, October 4th. Two students from each level had to learn a very challenging poem to be delivered to a panel of strict judges.
Our students had to learn their poems by heart and deliver them perfectly enough to win a prize. On Tuesday it was the turn of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students whereas on Wednesday the 6th, 7th and 8th students had to face the audience delivering their poems. As it’s always the case in these contests, our students were not only evaluated for their use of English but also for their pronunciation, memorization, volume, intonation and mostly on conveying meaning with their voice.
We are very proud of these students who were chosen to take part in the Poetry Contest representing Orchard College in this high-level competition, and encourage everybody to participate in these contests which are demanding but always enriching.
